Since, we are getting close to finish our bootcamp the following up next challenge will be searching future job. But this year is very different compare to previous year, it has been almost 10 months that WHO declared Covid-19 a pandemic. Millions of people have lived through lockdowns and shift to work from home. Although, at first it feel very different and inconvenient but now it seems like society has adopt the change and find its way to work through those problems. Remote working is a new thing that most of us learn from this covid-19 pandemic. So in this type of environment, job search will be somewhat different than what we used to know.

For interview, prepare to be able do it virtually. While we socially distance ourselves, the chance to face to face interview will be less compare to do it virtually. This new way of interview will delay the hiring process as companies adjust to their new circumstances. Even if employers were already in the process of filling a position, there will be new logistic involved.

Prepare to have control your environment and find a place that’s quiet, clutter-free, and well-lit. Some good advices for phone interviews, since it is through phone, your voice and tone are the first impression. It is really important to sounds confident and on point for the topic. Prepare a little note for the job requirements, and a list of questions of to ask your interviewer available in front of you to reference. For video interviews, download any necessary programs (such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and GoToMeeting) ahead of time and test the equipment with a friend to familiarize yourself with the process and ensure the setup is ideal. Also, since face to face drawing on whit board is not available. The alternative option will be using the Web Whiteboard (such as Awwapp, ZiteBoard ), to showing your knowledge and answer whatever question those interviews have for you.

In those working situations, since it is remote working. Keep updating your current working situation with your Boss or co-worker during the work time is important. Fast respond for question available or not will be important since we can’t see each other. How company grade your performance a lot of time will base on your skill and respond speed.

Another interesting point for companies has discoed that both remote work and trusting employees is not only possible, but in many cases more profitable. Employees remain effective and productive, and they feel better too. Many are now questioning the need for the big expensive and static office they used to have. How much they can save from those renting capacities each year.

Covid-19 taught us the importance of flexibility and trust, from economic, sustainability and health perspectives. As companies dare to explore options beyond the ‘one-size-fits-all’ office solution, we can start sharing spaces in a new way. Imagine if we could have access to inspiring new locations adapted for different tasks and projects wherever you are.
